 Welcome to Publications!

 Goals:

This elective course is designed for students to explore the world of journalism with hands-on experience in creating the school annual.  In addition, we will publish a quarterly newspaper to be scheduled around our yearbook publisher's deadlines.  Students will learn about layout, design and desktop publishing.

Deadlines are extremely important and must be strictly adhered to in this class.  To miss a deadline costs us money and can affect the delivery date of the yearbook in June!

Grading:

Your grade will be determined by the following categories:

Spreads (25%)

• Spreads will be assigned throughout the year, and specific grading sheets will be available as a spread is assigned.  Because our yearbook is directly tied to the specific deadlines set by our publisher, any spread that is one day late will only be eligible for half credit.  Any spread that is not complete by the second day after deadline will only be awarded one quarter credit.  Missing deadline is extremely costly for all involved.

Participation (75%)

• Production of the yearbook is a team effort.  Without everyone's participation, we will not be able to turn out a quality annual.  Your participation grade will be determined by Mrs. Davis, your advisor, with assistance from the editors.
