Complete the following assignments in the order in which they appear:

 

U.S. State Report
In this lesson, you will use the Internet to research information on a
U.S. state.
Your folder report will contain:

A title page
A paragraph summary on the state
A state map showing 4 main cities-1 being the capital
A 1/2 page summary of the capital city
3 Places of Interest with a paragraph and picture of each
Information on (3) the state symbols
An opinion paper, which tells whether you would like to live in this state or not with reasons why or why not.

This location will help you find symbols of the State.


Steps to Complete your Task:
Title page needs to include state name and picture of state flag, bird, flower, insect, animal and tree.
State Summary needs to include information on the state government, climate and economy.
Capital City paragraph needs to include location in state, climate, 2-3 places of interest, other information of interest to you.
Places of Interest paragraph need to include location and 3-4 sentences describing the place.

State symbols paragraph should include descriptive details on you choice of three symbols.

2. State Travelogue Brochure
Using your state report plan a trip through that state. You will crate a two page trifolded brochure describing what you consider "state treasures". Make sure you visit at least 3 cities in that state. . Consider: What is fun and worth seeing? What are 'don't miss' types of attractions? What are the favorite foods that are served in your state? What are your favorite stores and restaurants? What else can you think of? What IS wonderful about your state? Make the brochure using Microsoft Publisher. Then, send it to the State Chamber of Commerce.

3. Ready for Radio?
Plan a five to ten minute audio tour of your state for a visiting dignitary visiting from
Europe. Using your travelogue trifold brochure, organize the information into an exciting tour talk, and then use a tape recorder to record this special trip around your state. Listen to your work and redo it if necessary. You'll want to sound enthusiastic and to give the best and most exciting tour possible.
